Baby Play - Pull fabric strips from a wipe box Last night our 6 month old grandbaby, Ruby, stopped by for a visit. Baby play is so simple and uncomplicated, and on this evening we played with strips of fabric The simplest items for play are truly the best. I had cut some strips from fat quarters of fabric, then pinked the edges with pinking shears. We stuffed these into a wipes box for her to pull from the box.

She played with that for a while, with me stuffing the strips back in after she tugged them out. I haven’t figured out a perpetual pop-up strategy!

Then while sitting on her grandpa’s lap, he put the strip of fabric in a book, closed it, and she pulled it out. She thought that was the best and this entertained her for several minutes, giggling all along the way. No pictures…so sorry. I need to be more on my toes. But this gives you the idea… Baby Play - pull fabric strips from books

What does a baby learn from playing with fabric strips?

She is developing eye hand coordination as she reaches for the fabric. Her grasp is improving as she grabs the fabric strip and pulls. As we talk to her about what she is doing we are bonding and providing input for language development.   Have fun playing and snuggling with your sweet baby!
